Using prebuilt Template for wordpress according to post

Hello,

According to the post article, I installed templates for web and server containers and setup the variables / constants in the [stape]_settings folders.

I did not see any reference for the stape wordpress plugin that I have already setup (according to my container on stape).
So I am not sure if the plugin needs any change.

I did not see any reference to the webhook I setup before using the template.
Is it needed?

There was no variable setting for the GA4 tag measure ID so I added the variable and its ID and put it in the tag.
Is the measure tag id needed elsewhere?

There were 3 conversions declared in the stape template: purchase that I have on the google ads account and I put the ID and label. And two more: initiate checkout and add to cart that I have not setup.
Do I need to add to account and provide the labels? or ignore? or remove?

Can I use there templates on a custom website with a datalayer?

So I am not sure if the plugin needs any change.

  • it doesn’t. but if you have some sort of issue - please share the details

I did not see any reference to the webhook I setup before using the template.

  • this is a basic template trimmed for more accessibility and intends to be as universal as possible, webhooks are not the most common of cases, especially for newcomers to server-side tracking. We may consider more advanced examples in the future.

Is the measure tag id needed elsewhere?

  • measurement id variable is in web GTM container, server doesn’t require that input explicitly since it’s automatically inherited from the incoming requests.

Do I need to add to account and provide the labels? or ignore? or remove?

  • if you don’t require those conversion then pause or delete those tags.

Can I use there templates on a custom website with a datalayer?

  • template is built for dataLayer pushed by Stape apps, however with minor tweaks there’s no issue in using it on a custom site with a data layer formatted in ga4 notation

Many thanks Dan.

I have a working data layer and I can make it fit any format / data needed.

What do you mean by some twicks on my last question?

by some tweaks I mean address whatever possible inconsistencies between your dataLayer and what template is mapped out for. Event names in triggers is one obvious example.

So what i undestand from your reply is that if a datalayer is exactly as how the wordpress plugin is producing it then it should work.

Hi Dan, Looks like measurement in facebook and GA4 ok. Thanks for the support.

Now I see that google ads asks for google tag to be installed with id that starts with AW-.

I see tags of google ads in the server container but I dont see ads in the web container.
In the web there is the [[Stape] GA4 - _Config] - Google Tag with id that starts with GT-.

Did I do something wrong?
Or should I add a google tag on the client?

Google ADS can run entirely on the server container, no need to add anything on the client. Where exactly do you see this warning with the need to add a AW Google tag?

Hi Alex,

Yes I know that.
I see the notice when I am in: overview / campaigns / campaign

This is a standard warning, as it says it’s due to the fact that you haven’t had conversions on your campaigns for a long time. So you just need to check if you are using the correct conversions in these campaigns and if your conversions are working.
