Unusual Facebook crawler Traffic

Hi everyone,

I’m noticing unusual traffic in my GA4 coming from the Facebook crawler facebookexternalhit/1.1. I’ve already enabled Stape bot detection (“Power Up Bot Detection”) but it doesn’t seem to be filtering this traffic out.

Has anyone else experienced this? What’s the best way to block or exclude this crawler from GA4 reporting? Any tips or GTM solutions would be greatly appreciated!

Hello, simply enabling Bot detection power up is not enough. By default power up just gives you two data points - additional headers X-Device-Bot (true or false) and X-Device-Bot-Score (a score from 0 to 100) and based on this info you can use conditions in your triggers to fire or not to fire tags (or set up exception triggers).
