Shopify Checkout Tracking stopped working

Hi, we’re using the Stape App with full server-side tracking for the Shopify Shop www.purgruen.de for over a year without a problem.

The Shop runs with checkout extensibility for all this time without a problem.

Yesterday Shopify demanded some sort of upgrade for customer accounts and the thank you page and we did that. Since that upgrade we’re no longer able to track purchases in GA4 and GAds with the GTM, which is a big problem of course.

We didn’t change anything within GTM and the app, but after the checkout upgrade it’s no longer working. Of course the custom pixel is configured and activated.

We’ve already deleted the app and reconfigured it, but without success.

I actually do have two other clients, which have brand new shopify shops, where the stape app doesn’t seem to work on the checkout as well. Older shops with checkout extensibility work fine, but those three shops don’t have a GTM on the checkout page and no datalayer. I’ve checked with Google Chrome Network Tab and there’s no data layer or app connection via the sandbox.

Furthermore I did a test transaction with the shopify pixel test-tool and it actually shows a connection on the checkout, which makes it even weirder.

Does anybody face similar issues here?

I have not encountered or heard of any such problems.
Checked purgruen.de and I don’t see any problems with GTM or data layer there either, also on checkout:

  1. GTM loaded

  2. Data layer checkout events

Can you record a video demonstration where you check on the thank you page this?
