Improve the tracking of my website

At this time I would like to learn how to use GTM, I purchased the GTM Container service to implement my site with GA4 and Facebook CAPI features.

I have been following the videos online course, but I am missing some notions that I cannot find. I am just asking myself a few questions:

  • Is it enough to install the Stape server side plugin only or do I still need to install the GTM web code on the site to track web events as well? Can I also use only Server transmission? What is better?

  • If I install the code as well, do I have to manage a Unique ID for all the events I sect on the web side and server side so that double logging does not happen?

  • It is not an ecommerce, but a simple business site that has several forms, I would like to implement user data collection so as to improve Facebook CAPI registration. I can’t track the forms, the videos don’t show well how to create the variables which is the most complex thing for me being a novice.

  • I noticed that on GA4 if an event is also selected as a key event, the system counts it 2 times for me. If I disable the event as a key event it comes back to count it correctly.

  • I did an initial test by transferring data from GA4 directly to facebook without creating too many tags, but something was wrong.

  • I followed the guide and created the tags for facebook although I indicated as PageView event (I used Facebook TAGs) the debug always and only gives me custom events and does not recognize them.

There are some guide that can help me to learn GTM or someone can help me?

Thanks!

I think you need to start at the basics and take some courses. I can recommend a great course from Analytics Mania that explains GTM and sGTM step by step, including a section about Stape: Google Tag Manager and Google Analytics Courses - Analytics Mania

There is also a free Stape Academy, but it assumes you already have the basics:
