GTM MCP (gtm-mcp.stape.ai) – daily quota exceeded on shared project

Hi Stape team,

I hope you’re doing well! I’ve been using your GTM MCP server (https://gtm-mcp.stape.ai/mcp) with Claude and I really like it, but this morning I hit an issue I wanted to share with you.

On the very first call of my session (a simple accounts list), I got this error:

“Google API Error 429 - Quota exceeded for quota metric ‘Queries’ and limit ‘Queries per day’ of service ‘tagmanager.googleapis.com’ for consumer ‘project_number:605503051664’”

  • Date/time: 14 October 2026, around 08:39 CEST (UTC+2)
  • Authenticated with my work account (all GTM scopes granted, auth is working fine)
  • The project number 605503051664 is not mine. My own Google Cloud project has a different number, so I assume it’s the project behind your OAuth client.

Since the Tag Manager API has a default limit of 10,000 requests per project per day, my guess is that the quota is shared across all users of the hosted MCP and was already used up before I made my first request. Of course I may be wrong, so I’d love your confirmation.

A couple of questions:

  1. Is this happening on your side too / have other users reported it?
  2. Is 605503051664 indeed your project, and are you planning to request a quota increase from Google?
  3. Is there a recommended way to use the MCP with my own OAuth client/Cloud project, so my usage doesn’t depend on a shared quota?

Happy to provide more details or test anything if useful.

Thanks a lot and have a great day!

Cheers,
Giovanni Fabbrocino

Hi,
Thank you for explaining this issue in such detail. We have also identified it and are currently working on a solution, although it will take some time.

Thank you once again for your understanding.

I’ve just encountered this myself:

`Google API Error 429 - Quota exceeded for quota metric ‘Queries’ and limit ‘Queries per day’ of service ‘tagmanager.googleapis.com’ for consumer ‘project_number:605503051664’`

Let us know if you have a workable solution for this, @Roman_Kaliniichuk or if self-hosting is an option.

Hi,
Yes, we’re aware of this issue. We’ve hit the quota limit, and our team is actively working on a solution to address it. Thank you for bringing this to our attention and for your patience while we work on resolving it.
