Google Ads Requests get blocked

Hi,

for some reasons, all my Google Ads Requests get blocked.

I use a “standard” GTM-sGTM setup (mostly importet from Stape GTM Template)

  • Shopify
  • Using the Stape Shopify Plugin
  • Cookies from GA4 client are server managed / no settings changed

In other Shopify shops, I manage, it works just fine.

Please help

For contrast, I deactivated SST Google Ads and activated web GTM Google Ads:

Still every request starting with https://googleads.g.doubleclick.net is blocked.

I testet this with chrome and firefox – also using vanilla profiles without plugins.

Preview shows, that tags are succeeding

While Remarketing tag fails.

Hi!

I believe this has something to do with restrictions on geolocation.

I checked this website and got the error only when using a Dutch IP Address. When using one from the US or Brazil, the request went through (302 with redirects).

Does this Google Ads account have any restrictions on advertising outside a specific region?

I use a german ISP and Google Ads campaigns are restricted to Germany.

But this shouldn’t affect tracking requests getting out from client?

I think I’ve found the answer to your problem.

Apparently it might be related to the website being flagged as non-compliant with the EU User Consent Policy, or something similar.

Possible solutions:

  1. Send an email to Google asking for review.
  2. Create a new Google Ads Account.
  3. Implement MCC-based tracking (though it doesn’t always work).
  4. Disable Restricted Data Processing / CCPA in GTM and Google Ads (which doesn’t work for most users)

Wow, this is interesting.
I will try this and update this thread.

Thank you so much for helping!

Is this based on my Domain or on my Account ID?
If I used a different Google Ads ID which is not flagged, it should work, right?

This way I could potentially verify if the Account is flagged.

Apparently, both.

I’ve just tried using a different Conversion ID (which is tied to the Account) and it started working.
I’ve also used the same Conversion ID, but removed the url query parameter from the request. And it also worked.

Thats contradictory to domain and/or account being flagged, isn’t it?

  1. would suggest the domain is ok as in not flagged
  2. would suggest the conversion ID is not flagged

But somehow the combination of Conversion ID and url does not work.

This indicates that it’s the combination of both that’s flagged: Account and Domain.
