Google Ads Purchase Not Working - WooCommerce

Hi Stape Team, I am facing a tracking issue on a WooCommerce store for a US based client.

The Setup:

  • Platform: WooCommerce
  • Tracking: Google Tag Manager (Web + Server-side) / Google Ads conversion tracking
  • Consent: Google Consent Mode implemented (CookieYes)
  • Wordpress Plugin: Stape Plugin

The Issue:

  • add_to_cart and begin_checkout events fire successfully, and data (including conversion values) displays properly in Google Ads.
  • However, the purchase conversion is not capturing in Google Ads.

Questions:

  1. Verifying gclid persistence: How can I ensure that the gclid is not lost during the WooCommerce checkout process, especially across payment gateway redirects to the order confirmation page?
  2. Event firing & deduplication: What is the recommended way to reliably fire the purchase tag on the WooCommerce order-received page.

Any guide would be helpful. Waiting for a positve response

Thank you

Hi @Chaitanya_Yewlekar ,

  1. The click ID is stored on your domain. When you proceed to the payment method using the relevant functions, you are redirected back to the order-received page on your domain, where the Purchase event fires and the corresponding cookie containing the required click_id is set.

You can verify this in the outgoing logs of your Stape container by checking that the conversion events are sent successfully and that the click_id is included in those events.

  1. To prevent duplicate triggers, you can use the duplicate_transaction_checker variable, which will prevent the Purchase event from firing more than once on the order-received page. Everything else follows the standard event-triggering process.
