Changing sGTM Server Domain

Is there any documentation on how to change an existing server container domain?

We’ve discovered that ours has found its way onto a uBlock filter list and would like to update it.

Is it as simple as updating the “Name” field under settings in our account and then updating DNS records?

Or do we have to add a whole new domain and essentially start from the beginning?

hey @Ross_Hopkins

  1. It’s not your domain but the pattern for the Stape custom loader that was added to Ublock rules.
So changing it likely won’t do you any good.

  2. If you have to, on Business and higher plans you just add a new domain (with DNS records ofc), change that inside your GTM and then remove the old one. On lower plans you’ll have to remove existing domain and add a new one from scratch.

Thanks @Dan . Not sure I’m following regarding the stape custom loader pattern being the problem we’re experiencing here. I can see our exact sgtm container domain within https://easylist.to/easylist/easyprivacy.txt - eg https://stream.company.com with no reference to stape.

Or are you saying whatever is scanning to populate this list is able to derive that via the custom loader, regardless of what our own domain is?

Hey Ross,

No, might be isolated incidents, then.
What I mean to say is our patterns are currently blockled by Ublock Origin: Ad blockers: custom loader works, but event script is still blocked - #13 by Gasper_Cerar

Following up on this topic.

We have some internal processes that send data to our current domain. If we update the DNS record to make the current domain an alias of a newly added domain for the container, will that mean we won’t need to make any changes in that code?

UPDATE: I don’t think this is as simple as I hoped. I saw in GTM that you can add additional URLs to the container:

But in Stape you cannot create a new domain and link it to the same GTM sGTM container:

I’m guessing I am misunderstanding here.

You can add additional domains to the container on Stape, you can do this on a Business plan or higher. https://help.stape.io/hc/en-us/articles/6080966119709-Multi-Domains-power-up

From your screenshot it looks like you are trying to create hosting for a container that already exists on Stape.

Thank you, Alex; I realize now what I was doing wrong. I’ve successfully changed our container domain.
