2 Google Tag Error in GA4 and Google Ads

Hi,

We are using the Stape GTM app in Shopify. We are also using the JSON file of Stape in our web and server GTM to set up server-side tracking.

The issue is that we are seeing 2 Google Tag errors suggesting to use of the Google & YouTube app:-

  1. Action required: Google measurement on Shopify is at risk.
  2. Unsupported tag implementation detected on Shopify

Should we skip those errors? Or, should we change our Google Tag & Page View trigger to something else like page_view_stape

How can we solve this error?

Thanks.

TLDR - You can ignore this.

These warning are based on Shopify’s switch to Checkout Extensibility, where you’d need to know what you’re doing (or follow Stape’s advise) in order to achieve proper tracking in light of cookie limitation that their sandbox (extensibility) brings to the table.

As such, Google is pushing everyone to just switch to native Google app in Shopify to avoid any issues.

So, is it safe to have both “Google & Youtube App” and the Stapes app installed? I’m using Shopify Hydrogen, and not liquid, and what I’ve setup there works perfect.

But since migrating to sGTM from not having it, I’m getting the “Unsupported tag implementation detected in on Shopify”. I’m using the custom pixel snippet recommended by the app.

no, that would be over-reporting

yeah, you’re getting a notification from Google cause they see you using GTM where they’d rather have you use the app.
